From the historical point of view Cetica, like all the upper Casentino, was in the medieval period place under the lordship of the Guidi. Here was also a castle, called Sant’Angelo, belonging to this noble family and place where today is the Church of Santa Maria. A dominant point in the Solano valley, from Pagliericcio to the Pratomagno ridge. It is important to note that in Cetica there is a church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and the Bridge of Sant’Angelo (which is the abbreviation of the same saint), also there was the Castle of Sant’Angelo. This is the most evident evidence that the territory had the Longobard influence and here this northern European people will certainly have had some settlement. Returning to the Middle Ages the area had in this period, and later, a Vallombrosan influence. The churches of San Pancrazio and San Michele in fact have a monastic origin of this order that over the centuries had been expanding its spiritual and political domain to the whole Pratomagno.
Cetica has always been known for its products. A hilly mountain agriculture that has chestnuts, apples and potatoes its strengths. In particular, the red potato, rediscovered in recent years, has become the flagship of this place
