the Botanical Rose Garden “Gianfranco and Carla Fineschi” collects since 1967 species and hybrids of roses from all over the world. It is a unique private collection of its kind, a non-profit, but with the only interest to set up a scientific collection of living material. The Roseto, situated in Cavriglia, had been expanded year by year at the initiative of Prof. Gianfranco Fineschi, professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Rome. The project of the Rose Garden has been able to be identified only by virtue of acquisitions botanicals that have been organized according to specific taxonomic schemes, acquisitions that have brought the number of varieties of rose in the Rose Garden at more than 6,000.
How and When to visit the Rose Garden
Our Rose Garden can be visited on any working day or holiday from the first Sunday in May to the last Sunday in June, from 9 am to 7 pm. Big groups can book a visit calling 366 20.63.941, sending a fax to 055-96.66.38 or writing to info@rosetofineschi.it . The booking is not required for single visitors, families or small groups of friends. Visitors are requested to give a small € 6 donation to the ASSOCIAZIONE ROSETO BOTANICO GIANFRANCO E CARLA FINESCHI as a contribution to the keeping of the collection. If you wish to have a guide (according to availability), a further contribution of € 2,5 each person is needed.
